The SolarKing Wireless Roof Fan is designed to keep air moving through your roof space throughout the year, helping manage extreme summer heat while also assisting with the removal of excess moisture and humid air that can contribute to condensation and mould.
During summer, Australian roof spaces can become extremely hot. The SolarKing Wireless Roof Fan uses its powerful 42W solar panel and 300mm 5-blade metal fan to actively extract hot air from the roof cavity at up to 2,100m³ per hour.
As hot roof-space air is extracted, replacement air can enter through available eaves, soffit vents and other roof ventilation openings, creating valuable airflow through the roof cavity.
Reducing the amount of extreme heat trapped above your ceiling can help reduce heat transfer into the living areas below and may also reduce the load on your air conditioning.
Always in stock, ready for fast, FREE shipping to QLD, VIC, NSW, SA and TAS.
INCLUDES WIRELESS REMOTE CONTROL AND FREE FREIGHT
During the cooler months, roof ventilation can serve a very different purpose.
Everyday activities such as showering, cooking, washing and drying clothes produce water vapour inside the home.
In some older Australian homes, bathroom exhaust fans may also discharge directly into the roof cavity. While this was permitted under previous Australian building requirements in certain circumstances, it can introduce additional moisture into the roof space.
When warm, moisture-laden air enters a cold roof cavity, it can condense on roofing, roof timbers and other cold surfaces.
If excessive moisture remains trapped and affected areas cannot adequately dry, conditions can become favourable for mould growth.
Improving airflow through the roof cavity can help exchange humid roof-space air with outside air and assist damp areas to dry.
This makes the SolarKing Wireless Roof Fan useful for much more than simply removing summer heat.
During normal operation, the SolarKing Wireless Roof Fan automatically operates when the roof-space temperature rises above approximately 25°C.
When the temperature falls below 25°C, normal temperature-controlled operation stops so the fan isn't unnecessarily removing warmer roof-space air throughout winter.
However, the SolarKing Wireless Roof Fan also includes an automatic Anti-Mould Function.
During cooler conditions, the fan automatically operates once per day for approximately 15 minutes to provide a period of powered ventilation through the roof cavity.
This helps maintain air movement during the cooler months when normal summer heat extraction isn't required.
Mould needs moisture.
Roof ventilation doesn't remove existing mould and cannot guarantee that mould will never occur, but improving airflow can help manage one of the conditions that allows mould to develop – persistent excess moisture.
When operating, the SolarKing Wireless Roof Fan actively extracts air from the roof cavity.
With adequate replacement-air openings, this encourages outside air to move through the roof space while humid air is extracted.
Improved roof-space airflow can help:
Remove extreme summer heat
Exchange stale roof-space air
Remove excess humid air
Assist damp areas of the roof cavity to dry
Reduce condensation build-up
Reduce conditions favourable to mould growth
Reduce prolonged moisture exposure to roof timbers and insulation
For relatively sealed roof cavities, additional eave or soffit vents may be worth considering to provide sufficient replacement air.
Sometimes you may want additional roof ventilation regardless of the roof temperature.
The supplied wireless remote gives you control over the SolarKing Wireless Roof Fan and allows you to:
Turn the fan on and off
Select from four fan speeds
Override the normal 25°C temperature control
Set 1, 2, 4 or 8-hour timers
Operate the fan during cooler conditions when sufficient power is available
This provides considerably more control than a conventional passive roof ventilator.
Many Australian households shower in the evening, particularly during winter when there may be little or no solar energy available.
The SolarKing Wireless Roof Fan can also be used with its power supply (optional extra) to provide an additional source of power when solar energy is unavailable.
This gives you the ability to operate the roof fan after sunset when required.
For homes where evening showers or other activities are introducing significant amounts of moisture, this additional operating flexibility can be particularly useful.
Most people initially consider installing a roof fan because their roof becomes extremely hot during summer.
But a well-ventilated roof can provide benefits throughout the year.
The SolarKing Wireless Roof Fan actively extracts extremely hot roof-space air and encourages replacement air to enter the roof cavity.
The automatic Anti-Mould Function provides a daily period of powered ventilation to help maintain air movement through the roof space.
The included wireless remote and power supply (optional extra) give you additional control over when and how the fan operates.
Good roof ventilation isn't simply about installing a fan on top of your roof.
It's about creating airflow through the roof cavity.
Outside air enters through eaves or other lower ventilation openings → air moves through the roof cavity → hot or moisture-laden air is extracted by the SolarKing Wireless Roof Fan.
For homes experiencing condensation or excessive roof-space moisture, the source of that moisture should also be investigated.
Roof leaks should be repaired, and where practical, bathroom, laundry and other exhaust systems should discharge moisture outdoors rather than into the roof cavity.
The SolarKing Wireless Roof Fan can then do what it is designed to do – actively ventilate the roof space itself.
The SolarKing Wireless Roof Fan isn't simply a solar fan for hot summer days.
It combines powerful solar-powered roof ventilation with automatic temperature control, wireless operation and a dedicated Anti-Mould Function to provide useful roof-space ventilation throughout the year.
Summer heat.
Winter moisture.
One powerful roof ventilation system.
The number of fans required depends on the volume of air in the roof space that needs to be ventilated. Roof space volume is calculated as:
Ventilation standards often recommend exchanging the air in a roof space 10-20 times per hour to effectively reduce heat and moisture buildup. For a conservative estimate, use 10 air changes per hour (ACH), which is suitable for general roof ventilation in hot climates like Australia.
Each Solarking fan extracts 2100 m³/h. Dividing the required airflow by the fan’s capacity gives us the number of fans needed:

Typical applications for our solar ventilation fan are: Commercial buildings, offices, factories, barns, sheds, animal shelters, stables, holiday homes, residential homes, aged care facilities etc. There are so many benefits from installing our solar roof ventilation fans.
REDUCED USE OF YOUR AIR CONDITIONER
Most of set our air conditioner to around 23 degrees. In summer, for most of the day, the air conditioner will be working all day, battling to maintain this temperature. Your Solar ventilation fan will work with your air conditioner and remove all of that hot air from inside the roof space and therefore reduce the radiated heat coming from the ceiling. This will result in a cooler home and your air conditioner usage will reduce.
BETTER THAN A WHIRLYBIRD
A whirlybird will help to exhaust some of the hot air from your roof but due to the fairly low volume, during summer the air is rapidly heated up again. Our Solar ventilation exhaust fan can exhaust 20 times that amount of air and at zero cost as the motor is powered by the attached solar panel.
ROOF SPACE HEAT REDUCTION
During summer, a tin or tiled roof space can reach temperatures up to 65 degrees. Our Solar extraction fan can reduce this temperature by up to 30 degrees making your home much more comfortable to be in.
SOLAR POWERED
There are no running costs associated with our solar roof fans. The solar panel converts the solar energy to electrical energy and power the motor which drives the fan.
BRUSHLESS DC MOTOR
All of our fans are fitted with a high quality, brushless, DC motor with double shielded ball bearings that will provide years of quiet, trouble free operation and require no maintenance
