High Definition Modulator

I brought this Modulator to watch Foxtel around the house on other TVs.

I had a few issues setting it up at first, I found it was cutting out the signal on free to air channels on the TVs when you turn it on. But was able to find a channel (CH69) that did not interfere with the free to air channels I also had to adjust some settings on the modulator.

The modulator screen turns off after a short delay and the programmable channel name is great.

The IR targets work well and I have tested it with an IQ2 and IQ3 box with IR remotes and it is sending 1080i signal to 5 TVs.

There is a 5 second delay on the picture and audio to the other TVs and when changing the channel in the other room you press a button on the remote and it takes 2 seconds to appear on the screen.

Overall, I am very happy with this Modulator and would highly recommend it.

  • Will this modulator be affected by current and future HDCP versions the foxtel imposses? I currently have a HDMI over cat 5 extender with my IQ4 and it works intermittently due to HDCP. Looking at this modulator to overcome this issue.

    We switch the content protection off before we send out the modulators.

    I have one at home running my IQ4 and it works fine. Can't extend/work the Bluetooth remote but the picture is perfect.

  • I have an analogue modulator that was set up for a foxtel IQ 2. It is routed through the antennae so it can be seen in multiple rooms. Would this modulator be a simple swap out? We have never upgraded the IQ2 because of the lack of inputs in the newer models.

    Hi there,

    Yes, swapping over from an analog modulator to a digital one will be a fairly simple process.  You'll need to go into the menu of the modulator and set the correct frequency that matches the existing analog output unit.  Unless you do a rescan on your TV's (which you'll need to do anyway).  This is easy to setup and you can always email us fo support if required. The benefit of the digital modulator will be the improved digital picture quality and you can scan in it on any TV just like a live digital TV channel. Also, you can set the channel number that you want your TV to scan it in on in the program list ie channel 400 as well as custom name the channel ie FOXTEL.  I use one personally at home and they work well.

  • Will this work with the IQ4 box?

    Hi Kara,   Yes it will work with the IQ box but will not output 4K resolution only 1080p which still looks amazing.   Regards   John

  • Do you still need a Foxtel satellite dish to receive programs?

    Yes you do.

    A modulator is used for sending the signal from an existing receiver to another TV.

    For example, if you had Foxtel in the lounge, you could attach the modulator, run a cable, and then watch the same channel in another room.
