Choosing a Solar Roof Ventilation Fan
A solar roof ventilation fan, often called a solar whirlybird, uses its own solar panel to power roof-space extraction. Replacement air must enter through suitable vents or openings.
Before choosing a fan, consider your roof layout, sunlight exposure, installation requirements and the controls you need. A roof fan ventilates the cavity above your ceiling; it does not provide refrigerated cooling.
Standard or Wireless V4?
Choose the Standard V4 if you want automatic solar-powered extraction without remote controls. It normally starts above approximately 25°C when sufficient power is available.
Choose the Wireless V4 if you want remote on/off control, four speeds, timers and temperature override. It also has a daily ventilation function during cooler conditions when solar power is available.

How Much Airflow Will You Get?
SolarKing states a maximum airflow capacity of 2,100 m³ per hour. That is a product capacity figure, not a guaranteed installed airflow rate.
Sunlight, replacement-air openings, internal roof barriers and fan placement affect performance. Do not assume a fixed temperature reduction, electricity saving or comparison with a set number of wind-driven whirlybirds.
How Many Fans Do You Need?
Roof-cavity volume and layout matter more than bedroom count alone. Long or divided roof spaces may need additional planning and extraction points.

Can the Fan Run Without Sunlight?
An optional mains backup power supply is sold separately. It can provide power when solar input is insufficient, but the fan’s operating controls still apply.
