Dual output LNB

Delivery - excellent, arrived within 2 days of order.
Installation - the device was a simple swap for the existing single output LNB. However, I made some adjustments to the dish's elevation and azimuth to try to improve signal strength and quality, and this proved problematic though not really much to do with the new LNB. The polarisation scale was not easily read, but of the same sort as the existing LNB.
Receiver set up - At the moment I am only using one of the two outputs of the new LNB, but the receiver was set up for dual output. The receiver asked for low and high frequency range which I entered (from memory 11.7 and 12.75 GHz as on the box), but this did not work, so I used 10.7 GHz the local oscillator frequency of the existing LNB - this worked. I will need to see if second receiver requires this setting. If so, instructions on LNB receiver settings would help. The site is in a low gully in Aireys Inlet, Victoria.
I am very pleased with the product and service.

  • We purchased a new decoder and new signal max in July but unfortunately hubby got ill and we have only just been able to come to the holiday home to install it. We have since found out that the current signal max is a duel fitting so are we able to use the single one we purchased? If so will it fit straight in or will we need to make some changes?

    Hi there, yes you can use either of the two ports.  Just tape/seal the unused port and it will operate just like a single LNB

  • Hello. Will the Signal max twin LMB work on my Oyster Vision 3 system? I think the LNB I have has stopped working. I use only one of the two available LNB ports which is connected to a Fowtell box and I get Foxtell and fre to air Thankyou and regards. Chris

    Hi Chris,

    We have both a Signalmax and a Satking twin LNB and both are very compact so I imagine either would fit. I think you should call Smartsat (Oyster) first just to make sure.

    Hi there, I think when you mention one channel you mean one port on the LNB.  Yes you can use any of the output ports on the LNB for VAST.

  • Hi I just sent a question and left out the item description. The item I was enquiring about is the Signal Max Twin LNB. again my question is. I wish to connect 2 Foxtel set top boxes to the one Dish with one box being 4K IQ? If this is the best item, do I need to run 2 Co-ax cables to each box from the dish or can this be connected to the existing panel in the wall and split from there? Is there another item I can use to successfully split them from the existing panel in the wall?

    In order to run 2 x Foxtel IQ boxes, you'll need 2 cables to each decoder.  Twin output LNB from the dish, feed these two cables into the Signalmax  multiswitch ( 2 in 4 out) and 2 cables to each decoder from the multiswitch.  See links below:

Answer - A Wideband LNB is an LNB with an extended frequency range that is greater than a narrow band LNB.  An LNB with a local oscillator of 11300 will have a frequency range of 11.25 ~ 12.75GHz.  This is suitable for many Asian and European satellites.  In Australia, we require a 10700 LNB which has a frequency range of 11.7~ 12.75GHz.  This is suitable for receiving Foxtel and/or VAST.

Question - Can I use a single output LNB for Foxtel?

Answer - Technically, you can but requires a work around and limits many of the features of the Foxtel box.  It is standard practice to use a twin output LNB for Foxtel as they require 2 x cables to be fed from the satellite dish to the IQ decoder.  The Australian satellite TV service known as VAST only requires a single output LNB
