A DiSEqC switch is used in a multiple LNB application. For example, you have 2 dishes pointing to different satellites and only one satellite decoder. The 2 coaxial cables can be combined using the electronic switch and a single cable runs from the switch to the decoder. Within the menu of almost all decoders, there is a setting where you can enable DiSEqC 1.0 or 1.1. Then it is simply a matter of telling the decoder which port is connected to which satellite. When setup correctly, as you change to a channel on one satellite, it will automatically switch to that port. When you change to a channel on the second satellite, it will switch to the second port.
