The DSD 5000 twin tuner PVR ready satellite decoder ticks every box when it comes to performance, physical size and includes features not seen before in an Australian VAST certified product. 

Firstly, for those of you unsure what a VAST decoder is - VAST is the acronym for Viewer Access Satellite Television.  The VAST service is broadcast on the Optus 10/D3 satellites and can be accessed by people living in poor TV reception areas as well as travellers on the road with a mobile satellite system in a caravan, camper or motorhome.  Connect this decoder to your satellite dish and access all of the free to air digital channels such as ABC, SBS, Seven Central (Seven Network), Imparja (Nine Network), Ten Central (Ten Network) as well as ABC NEWS, SBS2, Mate, Go, Gem, One, Eleven etc etc.  A host of radio channels are also broadcast such as BBC World News, Triple J, Double J etc.

This decoder is a PVR ready unit (no hard drive included). The PVR ready unit features an external USB slot and you can connect most external USB drives such as a USB stick or drive. The unit is also available with a 500GB harddrive. You can view this product here

User Interface

The DSD 5000 software has been designed with ease of operation and speed.  When first started, you are presented with a wizard that guides you through time zone, screen resolution, hard drive setup and dish settings.  After this has been completed, the 4921RV will scan in all of the satellite channels and store them in memory.  At this point you'll need to register your smartcard which is already inserted into the side of the unit.  Simply remove it and record the number for convenience.

The menu and EPG have been further enhanced so as to make navigation simple and intuitive.  See screenshot below:

Brackets

The DSD 5000 VAST decoder is an unusual shape and has no mounting holes to mount under a shelf or vertically inside a cupboard. For these reasons, we offer 2 mounting options:

• Under shelf (or vertically mounted) shelf bracket
• Integrated TV bracket which attaches the VAST box to your TV

Under shelf bracket: Custom made, powder coated, aluminium mounting shelf bracket to suit Altech UEC 4921/ 5000 PVR ready & PVR satellite decoders. Two piece design locks the decoder in place whether mounted horizontally, vertically or even upside down.  Made specifically for the Altech 4921/5000  PVR and PVR ready models only.  Will not suit other VAST decoders.

Integrated TV bracket:

Already mount your TV on a TV wall bracket? Not sure if you have space to mount your new Altech VAST box? Want to keep the installation clean and tidy from messy cabling? You take the TV off the TV support bracket while travelling anyway so why not have the Altech VAST box mounted permanently on the back of the TV?  What a great integrated solution.

Our SatPlus integrated TV bracket is the perfect solution that:

• keeps the decoder protected at the back of the TV while travelling
•  offers a discreet mounting option
• integrates the box into the TV
• fits all 15 - 24" TV's with 75mm or 100mm VESA mounting holes
• can be rotated to suit all brands of TV depending on the TV connection socket positions
• utilising the 4921 IR sensor, decoder operations are controlled by pointing the remote control at the sensor eye on the front of the TV
• minimises cable connect/disconnect.  Only the sat feed and DC power cable need to be unplugged when packing up (requires our 600mm HDMI cable, quick connect sat feed cable and connectors, IR sensor and DC splitter cable pack)
• provides an ideal mounting option when there is no other alternative
• looks aesthetically better

Installation is easy. Simply remove the head of your exisiting TV bracket from the back of your TV, place the SatPlus bracket plate over the 4 existing mounting holes and bolt your TV bracket head back to the TV.
