Hi there, I have a Foxtel subscription and satellite dish but only have one cable coming from the dish. I am a bit confused about the vertical and horizontal. I think the foxtel cable would go into the horizontal input but I probably need the vertical, so I need another cable from the dish that does the vertical. Is that any where near accurate? So, a horizontal and vertical output from the dish?
Foxtel IQ boxes require the twin cables as they are a twin tuner and you are correct, they operate on horizontal and vertical polarisation depending on the channel that you are watching or recording. This is easily achieved with the use of a twin output LNB. So 2 cables are connected from the dish down to the IQ box. The twin LNB fits in the standard LNB holder on your dish and is easily swapped out.
If you are looking to run a Foxtel standard box (non IQ) along with a Humax (or any other brand VAST box) then you can just run the twin output LNB with a cable to each box. If you are running a Foxtel IQ box and a VAST box then you will require the multiswitch as well as the twin output LNB.
