HI, Are these batteries suitable for under bonnet use, what are the temp ratings. Thanks
Hi there, We do not recommend installation under a bonnet due to potential heat build up particularly during idle in hot summer conditions. Cheers John
Would a Projecta 50amp IC5000L Charger be suitable for our 2 x Lithium 100ah batteries we have recently ordered from you for our caravan? I'm worried that it may be too big, but was told we would get the best performance from the batteries with the Projecta 50amp.
Hi Julie, The Projecta IC5000L would be perfect for your application. Very nice units. I think we need to stock these as we have been looking for a suitable lithium charger and that one has adjustable output for various battery sizes. Good choice I think Julie. Regards John
Hi, currently my van charges 200ah of deep cycle batteries when the engine is running through the alternator and through an installed battery isolator (Redcarc SBI 12) and also through 330watts of installed solar via a Victron 30amp charge controller. My question is : if I change over to this 100Ah lithium battery will it be ok to continue to charge through the vans alternator and SBI12 battery isolator as well as the solar or would the alternator be providing too many amps (I think it is a 90amp alternator) for the battery? In the lithium battery specs it says the nominal charging is 30amps and maximum of 80amps.
HI Ben, Sorry for the late reply. No problem with the solar supply, with lithium, you can't have too much solar. I am concerned though with the amperage generated by your alternator and looking on CTEK website, it appears to permit up to 100Amps through that isolator. I am still learning as much info as I can on charging systems but from my research, you may require a DC-DC charger to bring that high current down to around 30A. Regards John
Can I charge a 100AH lithium battery for my caravan using the portable solar panel I use to charge its deep cycle batteries.
Hi there,
Yes you can, however charging a high capacity lithium battery via a portable solar panel will take a long time. You really want to have preferably 200 watts minimum to recharge at an acceptable rate.
Cheers
John
Hi, if the min charge current is 10 amp, can you charge the battery and is it ok with just 1 x 150 W solar panel when camping if the panel is putting out less then 10 amps ? cheers Glenn
Hi Glenn,
We suggest at least 200 watts of solar so that the lithium battery can charge back up fairly quickly. It will charge from a 120 watt panel but best if you don't consume power from the battery while charging as you're only going to get around 6 amps per hour back into the battery from that panel in good sunlight conditions so it will take a fair amount of time to reach full capacity.
Cheers

will a single 100amphr battery be equivelant to 2 x100 AGM batteries in capacity and efficiency? Is the 3 year warranty a full warranty or pro rata after a certain time?
Hi Phil,
Based on power availability, yes it will replace 2 x AGM's. It is a return to base 3 year warranty and if faulty will be repaired or replaced. Cycles will be affected over time as per manufacturers specifications.
Cheers
John
Can I replace my caravans agm deep cycle batteries with lithium batteries without changing the charging setup?
Hi there, Yes, in most cases there is no need to change over the regulator as the battery incorporates a built in battery managements system that will control overcharge, input voltage, individual cell voltage, temperature etc. So, yes, swap and go. Cheers John
