Now available is the Viewer Access Satellite Television service otherwise known as VAST.  The VAST service will revolutionise the way we watch TV especially for those living in poor reception areas and in remote regions where the only services to date have been ABC, SBS, Imparja and Seven Central.   The VAST service will provide the same number of channels that are currently available in metropolitan areas: programs from the Seven, Nine and Ten networks and the national broadcasters’ main channels, ABC1 and SBS ONE, along with digital channels ABC2, ABC3, ABC NEWS 24 HD, SBS TWO, 7TWO, GO!, GEM, ELEVEN and ONE HD. Regional news feeds are also available so you can watch news and weather that is more relevant to your area.

VAST is currently available to those living in the TV1 Remote Central and Eastern Licence Area as well as regional SA and VIC.  Many other areas are opening up for access to the VAST service.  VAST is also available to those living outside the TV1 Licence area who are in a TV blackspot and have been granted special permission for Optus Aurora.  To check your eligibility visit www.mysattv.com.au and click on the Satellite Decoder online Registration button on the top right corner.  You will then be directed to the DigitalReady website. Enter your address, click on Go and check satellite eligibility.

 Those living in rural and remote parts of WA who have a current Aurora smartcard that is registered to that property address for permanent access to GWN and WIN, can now access the VAST service.  An interim service (WA only) will be provided on the VAST platform that includes ABC1, ABC2, ABC NEWS24, SBS1, SBS2, GWN, WIN and Ten West.  Later in the year the additional digital channels will be made available through the WA VAST service and the VAST decoder will update automatically.

This kit includes a high quality, Zinc and powdercoated 85cm satellite dish, roof mount (tin, tile or wall - select from the drop down box), LNB (low noise block - fits on end of dish), deluxe satellite finder to locate the signal, 15m RG6 coaxial cable (cable from dish to inside), 2m RG6 coaxial cable (satfinder cable which is then used as internal wallplate to decoder cable) , wallplate, plaster bracket, high definition UEC DSD4121 decoder (remote control and standard AV cable is included - BONUS HDMI LEAD INCLUDED ), smartcard and easy to follow self install instructions. All packed in a durable shipping carton.

We also have the decoder available as a separate purchase so if you already have a satellite dish on the roof all you need is the VAST approved decoder. 

Altech UEC have released an upgrade pack that enables the DSD4121 satellite decoder to record your favourite shows direct to a hard drive thus making it a personal video recorder (PVR) - requires an external harddrive (not included).  The upgrade pack includes a new design PVR remote control and new software (loaded at the ALTECH UEC warehouse).  The PVR ready version model number is known as a DSD4121PVR.  Keep in mind that this decoder, being a single tuner, can only record one program at a time (whichever program the decoder is set to).  You cannot record a program while watching another.  You can however watch a recorded program while recording another channel so this is useful.  Of course, full PVR functions such as rewind, fast forward, pause etc are standard.  If you'd like this PVR option, please choose it from the option box above where the 'Add to cart' button is.  We also have available, Seagate 1TB powered hard drives so you can record hours and hours of shows direct to the drive.  Again, if you'd like one of these brand name, quality drives, choose it from the options above as well.

NOTE - For those of you who have already purchased a DSD4121 VAST decoder who would like to upgrade the decoder to enable the PVR functions, an upgrade pack will be made available by January/February 2012.

• Northern service will operate in northern time zone, providing standard definition services for viewers in Queensland and the Northern Territory based on Brisbane time.
• Southern Service will operate in Southern time Zone providing standard definition services for viewers in NSW, Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania based on Sydney time.
• The high definition services will be provided in a combined zone, covering both the northern and southern zones.
• A satellite service for Western Australian viewers, using the same Optus platform, is currently under negotiation with the remote area commercial TV licensees in Western Australia (Prime and WIN Television).
• Viewers of the satellite service will be able to watch their local news services through a dedicated news channel.
• State-based ABC and SBS news services would also be available on their respective channels.
